

Pekin – Rev. Donald L. Stoll, 81, of Pekin, IL, formally of East Peoria, IL, passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born Sept. 18, 1935 in Barberton, OH to Ronald and Hazel (Ziezeck) Stoll. Donald married Lila Schneider on Sept. 9, 1962 in Worland, WY. They recently celebrated their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary.
Surviving is his wife Lila Stoll of Pekin, IL, son Peter (Valerie) Stoll of Brookfield, WI, and two grandsons; Christopher and Matthew Stoll. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his son Stephen Stoll, two brothers, and one sister.
Don retired as a minister from the United Church of Christ. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Divinity at the United Theological Seminary in Minneapolis, MN. He went on to minister in churches in Pennsylvania, Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois. Most recently ministering at Fondulac United Church of Christ in East Peoria. An active member of the United Church of Christ Association, Don loved to work with the church camps throughout Iowa and Illinois.
Don’s hobbies and interests included woodworking, photography, and gardening with his wife. He was a member of the woodworking club of Pekin and St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin. Don was the founder and President of the Peoria Self Help for the Hard of Hearing for over thirteen years and was instrumental in the creation of the Crop Walk in Donnellson, IA.
Services will be held at 11 am Thursday, September 29, 2016 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Evangelical Cemetery in Donnellson, IA. Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin, IL or Donnellson, IA.
