

Edwin was born July 24, 1941, to Harold Davis and Lorraine Duff, in Litchfield, IL, where he lived until moving to Pekin, IL with his step-father, Richard Fritzsche, in 1959. He married Dorothy Schwehr March 12, 1960 in Springfield, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy Davis of Pekin, IL, other survivors include his sons Kevin (Celesta) Davis and Jeff Davis, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two brothers Harold Eugene (Sheri) Davis and Gary Wayne (Julie) Fritzsche.
Edwin is preceded in death by his parents, step-father, and his brother Robert Davis.
Edwin was a heavy machine mechanic for more than 40 years, with the last 21 years at Gingerich Crane, before retiring in 2010.
Outside of work and spending time with his family, Edwin was a well-known local drag racer and engine builder who was known for his fast Fords and was highly sought after for his vast mechanical knowledge.
During his life, Edwin traveled to all 48 continental states, loved antique tractors, and was a lifelong fan of the University of Illinois Fighting Illini and the Green Bay Packers.
Edwin was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be severely missed by all.
Visitation services will be Friday, February 21, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria.
Graveside service will be Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend, IL.
