OBITUARY

Frank C. Querry Jr.

April 28, 1924December 5, 2019

Frank C. Querry, Jr, age 95, passed away peacefully from natural causes, on December 5, 2019, with his loving family and dear friends at his bedside, in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. Frank was married to his beloved Betty Lucille Burton (deceased) for 60 years. He is survived by his daughter Patrice (Thomas) Misny, son Andrew (Evelyn) Burton, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild, who will all miss his outgoing personality, generous heart, and sense of humor.

Frank was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Royal Oak High School in 1942. He spent the summer of 1941, between his junior and senior years, working on an ore boat traveling the Great Lakes from Detroit to Duluth, Minnesota.

In March 1943 Frank joined the Army. He was stationed in the South Pacific in the 211th anti-aircraft Battalion where he was a gunner on a four barrel machine gun turret. He was honorably discharged in February 1946.

After being discharged from the Army, Frank attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois from 1946 to 1950. Bradley is where Frank met the love of his life, Betty Burton. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a founding member of the Rho Delta Fraternity.

Frank worked at the Uniroyal Tire Company for many years and retired in 1982.

Frank was proud to be a WWII veteran. He was active in the American Legion in both Post 303 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and Post 142 in Pompano Beach, Florida, where he received a Lifetime Membership and was on the Executive Board. He was honored to join Honor Flight of South Florida on a trip to Washington D.C. to visit the WWII Memorial.

Frank and Betty loved to travel, and enjoyed cruises to Alaska, the South Pacific, Australia, Italy, and especially a 50th Wedding Anniversary cruise with their family to the Mediterranean.

Frank was a man of Faith who lived a long and full life. He enjoyed parish retreats and was also a Eucharistic Minister at St Thecla Parish in Clinton Township, Michigan.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria, Illinois, where Frank and Betty were married in 1951, on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 10 AM, followed by interment at Fondulac Cemetery with an Honor Guard. There will be a visitation at 9:30 AM prior to the Mass, at St. Monica's.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frank's name to Honor Flight of South Florida or Wounded Warriors.
