Helen Anne Ellis Guthrie

Osage Beach – Helen Anne Guthrie, 92, of Osage Beach, MO, formerly of Bayview Gardens, IL, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Osage Beach Rehab and Heath Care Center. She was born July 16, 1924 in Murphysboro, IL to Albert and Helen (Hancock) Ellis. Helen married Carl W. Guthrie on June 24, 1943 in St. Louis, MO. Carl passed away on October 11, 2000. Helen is survived by her children: Donald (Mary) Guthrie of Sun City West, AZ, Sheila (Larry) Benson of Surprise, AZ, Vickie Lucas of Greenbrier, AR, daughter-in-law Carol (Gary) Stalnaker of Peoria, IL, six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, one brother, four sisters, and three sister-in-law’s. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two children, two grandchildren, one step grandchild, step-mother, and four brothers. Helen worked for Bemis Bag Company retiring in 1979. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Peoria and a member of the Spring Bay American Legion Post 1115. Helen and Carl loved traveling the country in their motor home and fishing. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. Services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria, IL. Visitation will be from 12 – 2 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Spring Bay Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or the Small Wonders Miracle Walk.
