He was born May 8, 1939 in Brimfield to Everett and Violet (Rynearson) Foster. He married Linda Newell on April 30, 1987 in Peoria. She survives along with one son, James A. (Julie) Foster, Jr of Elmwood, one daughter, Christina Metz of Yates City, one step-son, Don Darlington of East Peoria, five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Joyce Foster of Galesburg, Shirley Whitson of Williamsfield, and one brother, Archie Foster of Elmwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings.
Jim was a United States Army veteran. Following his time in the service he worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years as a welder retiring in 1994.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved animals.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 18, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Graveside services will be Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Brimfield.
