
Born on January 23, 1952 in Peoria, Illinois, Jessie was the daughter of late Stanley Roy Blackburn and Alice Mae Blackburn. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sandy Johnson, her grandson, Christopher Burgess and her husband, Kenneth Kent.
Jessie will forever be cherished and remembered by her surviving family members. Including her only child, Tammi Waldrop-Martin, and her brother Roy Blackburn. As well as her loving dog, Patricia Kent, and her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jessie was a proud grandmother to Keith Burgess, Lauren Martin, Dylan Henry, and Andrea Martin, who will miss her deeply.
After attending East Peoria High School, Jessie cultivated a lifelong love for gardening. She found solace in her beautiful garden, where she nurtured a variety of plants and flowers. Jessie had a talent for beautifying her house. She loved to get lost in a good book, and crochet gifts for her loved ones. Jessie will be remembered as a kind, gentle soul, who always put others before herself. Her warm smile and nurturing nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held to honor and celebrate Jessie’s life on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023 at 10 a.m. in Fondulac Cemetery. Her service will be officiated by Danny Wilson. Remmert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. May Jessie Kent’s soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
