Kathie Marie Smith

Kathie Marie Smith was born on September 19, 1947, daughter of Leo and Kathryn (Boundy) Smith. (Her mother ran the Bookroom at EPCHS for many years). Kathie passed on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Carle Methodist.

Kathie went to Washington Grade School, Central Jr. High, and was a member of EPCHS Class of 1965. She was President of the Make-up Club senior year.

Kathie worked for a few different jobs before deciding she wanted to go to High Fashion Beauty College. She started her profession as a hairdresser at the age of 19 and finally retired 53 years later in 2020. Kathie was active in the Hairdresser's Association for many years and held all positions, including President. For many years, Kathie was busy with community activities.

She was a step-sister to Carol Nelson (Fred) and Connie Pogue; an aunt to two nieces and two nephews, great-aunt to a niece and three nephews and is a great-great aunt to a niece and nephew.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
