Kenneth Gene Ward

Kenneth Gene Ward, 72, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Born in Peoria on February 23, 1949 to Robert and Ardella (Saltsman) Ward, he married Dongmei Qin on April 11, 2009. She survives along with his daughter, Gayle (Michael) Baas; step-son, Yance Zhao; granddaughter, Sarah Ward; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Gary Ward and Harry Ward; sister-in-law, Teresa Ward; and niece, Barbara Toohill. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kenneth Ward; and brother, Robert Ward.

Kenneth was retired from Caterpillar with over 30 years of service. He was a proud Army veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam. In his youth he enjoyed playing Basketball and was later a referee for local high school games. He enjoyed Nascar and was a member of First United Methodist Church of East Peoria where he served on the Daycare Board.

Visitation will be held at Remmert Funeral Home on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 5-7PM. Funeral services will be held at Remmert Funeral Home on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 10AM with Rev. Kevin Little officiating. Burial will follow at Fondulac Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the donor's choice.

Remmert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I am so sorry to hear of Kens passing. He was a very good friend from long ago We had a lot of good times together He loved my moms cookies I had to hide them from him so I could have some for me lol. He could lift me over his head At that time I was 165 lbs I will miss him and never forget him. He helped me get my first date with my now”wife” We have been married 51 years He always said I was p———y whipped Lol.
