She was previously a resident of Bellevue, IL. Laura was born on March 1st, 1961, the first child of Maggie (Collins) Bergschneider and Russel Bergschneider. She was raised in Peoria, IL and attended Manual and Limestone high schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents Maggie and Russell, brother James Bergschneider and sister Lisa Johnston as well as grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Laura is survived by her daughter Micaela Rios Solomon (Don) of Germantown Hills, her son Kyle Schepka (Amber) of Princeville, partner of 30 years William Schepka, bonus daughters Kayla Shutt (Adam) of Bartonville and Melissa Schepka, her sister Vicki Dangerfield (Clark) of Peoria, 8 grandchildren Connor, Nolan, Raven, Kruz, Knox, Knova, Koby and Alex, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Laura worked at Associates in Dentistry for nearly 3 decades and had a large group of coworkers and patients that were good friends to her.
Being a grandmother was her favorite thing, and she was the best that we could have asked for. Laura became a Brabra in 2001 with the birth of her first grandchild and transitioned to Gaga later when her first granddaughter was born.
She mended items and sewed countless costumes, baby blankets and Christmas stockings for her family, friends and coworkers. She enjoyed sleepovers with her grandchildren, watching them compete or perform, cooking and baking, camping, girls’ trips, Margaritas Thursdays with friends, fishing, animals and other family activities. She loved the holidays and her Christmas tree.
Although she will be greatly missed by her family, we take comfort in knowing that she was happy to be reunited with her beloved parents and siblings that she missed so dearly.
To support Laura’s love of animals, memorial contributions may be made to TLC Fosters.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a public visitation will take place in January.
