Lawrence Franklin Petree

Larry was born December 6, 1949 in Batesville, AK to Benjamin and Laura (Talley) Petree. He married Sharon Wright on October 16, 1985. She survives.

Also surviving are two step children; Barbara (Todd) Beecham of Glasford, IL, Timothy Wood of Glasford, IL, four grandchildren; SPC Terrence (Nikki), Jackie, and Michael Beecham, Thomas Wood, JR., three great grandchildren; Tinley, Zoe, and Ruby Beecham, one sister Linda Baistain of Arkansas, and nieces; Denna (Tim), and Annie Bruce.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, step son; Thomas Wood, Sr., great grandchild Thomas Wood III, and brother-in-law Steve Baistain.

Larry worked as an Operator Engineer for the Union for 27 years, and retired in 2000. He also owned Larry’s Driftwood Pizza in Creve Coeur. Larry had a heart for veterans, and supported them in many ways. He was a member of the Patriot Club and AMVETS. He enjoyed supporting the V.F.W. and American Legion in Creve Coeur and Pekin and also The Greater Peoria Honor Flight.

Services for Larry will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday May 7, 2014 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Family Friend Ron Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, in Pekin. Visitation will be held Tuesday May 6, 2014 from 5-8 PM.

Memorial Donations in honor of Larry, may be made to The American Cancer Society, or The Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
