Lucille E. Tosch

Lucille E. Tosch, 98, of East Peoria, IL, passed away at 10:30 PM on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Aperion Care Morton Villa in Morton, IL. She was born on September 11, 1920 at home on the farm in Forest City, IL, to Dietrich H. and Clara (Boerger) Schmidt. She married Leo H. Tosch on March 8, 1947. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters. She is survived by three children Linda and Larry of East Peoria and Lowell (Joanne) of Big Rock, IL; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Lucille graduated from Easton High School in 1938 and attended Peoria Business Institute. She worked as a secretary for Bemis Bag Co., Robein Grade School and Christ Lutheran Church, where she was a member for over 75 years. As a young woman she was the President of the Senior Walther League and sang in the choir. She enjoyed playing bridge and the piano. She could play lively Dixieland-style music from memory well into her nineties. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria, with a visitation from 10 AM until the service at the church. Rev. Karl Eckhoff will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or the South Side Mission.
