

She was born on December 22, 1916 in Peoria, IL to Hugh D. and Eva Mae (Beeney) Bennett Sr. She married John Steve Bartos on February 6, 1954 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2002 in East Peoria, IL. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Iola Nagy, Cuba Cooper and Marguerite Hobby and two brothers, Roger and Hugh Bennett.
Surviving is one son, Craig (Mary) Bartos of Onalaska, WI, three grandchildren, Karen, Laura and John Bartos all of Onalaska, WI. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bennett of Phoenix, AZ, Doris McCue of West Melbourne, FL and Dixie (Gaylor) Bartos of Glendale, AZ and one brother-in-law, George Bartos also of Glendale, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews.
Madeline worked in the Laundry Dept at Methodist Hospital for several years and then as a Dress Clerk at The B & M Store in Peoria for 7 years before leaving to raise her family. She was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Onalaska, WI.
A funeral will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 11:00 am at Remmert Funeral Home, East Peoria, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Father Kenneth Marchulones will officiate. Entombment will follow the service at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
