Margaret Mary Jacobs

East Peoria – Margaret Mary Jacobs, 92, of East Peoria, IL passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Riverview in East Peoria. Margaret was born January 16, 1924 at home in East Peoria to James E. and Margaret M. (Tracy) Jacobs.

Surviving is her sister Esther (Herbert) Spinder of East Peoria, IL, her nephew Timothy (Julie) Spinder of Lisle, IL, four great nieces; Tracy Jacobs of Port St. Lucie, FL, Heather (Ernest) Argello of San Antonio, TX, Linda Kull of Dansville, PA, and Lindsay (Russ) Fann of Indian Land, SC, great nephew Marc (Leah) Spinder of Oswego, IL, and four great-great nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, a brother James and sister Jeanne Jacobs.

Originally from East Peoria, Margaret attended Crescent Hall, a former Peoria business school. After three months, she was hired by Caterpillar in their accounting department, working in East Peoria for twenty four years, followed by seventeen more years in Mossville, retiring in 1983. Following her retirement, Margaret went on to be a volunteer with Unity Point Health Methodist for over twenty six years in their mailroom and logged over fourteen thousand hours of service.

Margaret was a golfing enthusiast playing in a weekly league at Fondulac Park District. She enjoyed reading, and playing pinochle and cribbage.

Services will be held at 11 am Friday, November 4, 2016 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Fondulac Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Online tributes may be made at www.RemmertFuneralHome.com
