Mary Kathryn Guymon

Mary Kathryn (Kate or Kat) Wheatley Guymon was born December 30, 1929 to Elmer Charles Wheatley and Kathryn Matilda Stroh Wheatley in Mt. Carmel Illinois. She married John Richard Guymon (deceased) on March 7, 1953.

They had three children: Richard Guymon (deceased), John Mac and Charles Henry. They moved up to East Peoria where John worked for Caterpillar and Kate worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell and then AT&T until retirement. She was a Christian and attended church regularly on her own and then with her grandchildren.

She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. She was a member of the Pioneers, active Breast Cancer Survivor Supporter, Telephone Bunch a Lunch. She lived the past 9 years with her Granddaughter, Colleen and her family, enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She passed at home in the company of her family.

She was the last of her siblings (Alice (Sis), William (Jackie), Inez, Jean, Raymond, and Harry) and many friends to pass. She is survived by her sons Mac (Vicki) of Delavan IL and Charlie (Kim) of San Antonio TX; her grandchildren Colleen (Robert) Tockes, Andrew Guymon of East Peoria IL and Chris Guymon of San Antonio TX; her great grandchildren Jacob and Grayce Tockes, Jasmine Lambert, Bryson Gregory, Carson, Isabella, Bryleigh Guymon and her four legged grandchildren Brutus and Buster.

She was loved and will be missed, but we’re happy she is no longer suffering and has her memories back and is with the Lord.

Visitation will be held Friday Oct 30th at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria at 1 pm with funeral at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send checks to Colleen Tockes 106 Marks Ct. East Peoria IL 61611 and we will donate to TAPS in her name.
