Mary S McDowell

She was born March 15, 1920 in McKeesport, PA to John and Mary (Dawson) Nye. She married Samuel McDowell on April 2, 1940 in Pennsylvania. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1987.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Mary (Daniel) Vandenberg of Hoopeston; Lucile (Roy) Gregory of Metamora; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Samuel; and 12 brothers and sisters.

Mary was an LPN retiring from Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria. She was a member of Roland Manor Baptist Church in Sunnyland.

Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria with Rev. Steve Hardin officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services on Sunday at the Funeral Home. Cremation will be accorded following services with burial of ashes at Pottstown Cemetery at a later date.
