Michael Ray Dixon

East Peoria – Michael Ray Dixon, 60, of East Peoria, IL passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 at his residence. Michael was born May 24, 1956 in Peoria, IL to Jack and Frances (Schmitt) Dixon. He married Jeanette Johnson on May 14, 2010 in East Peoria, IL. Surviving are: his mother Frances (Jim) Burton of East Peoria, wife Jeanette Dixon of East Peoria, his children; Shane (Tyler) Dixon of Hanna City, Ruben (Amy) Pizano of East Peoria, Reyna Munoz of East Peoria , Shawna Pizano of East Peoria , Bianca (J.J.) Pizano of East Peoria, Alex Preciado of East Peoria, and Jamie (Todd) Cargill of Sunnyland, eight grandchildren, his brother Curtis Troy (Julie) Dixon of East Peoria, his sister Kellie (Erik) Roecker of Morton, two step-brothers; Louis Bud (Carol) Maliongas and George Alexander bother of St. Paul, MN, step-sister Teresa (Pete) Hupke of Delavan, five nephews; Joshua Fries, Cole Dixon, Easton Roecker, Dustin Burris, and Daniel Hupke and two nieces; Taylor Dixon and Lindsey Roecker. Michael was preceded in death by his father, step-father Marty Floyd, step-mother Patricia Kelly, and his brothers Patrick Dixon and Michael Alexander. Michael retired from Caterpillar in 2011 as a welder last working in Building LL in East Peoria. He was a kind, compassionate man who cared for people, loved his family, and was an outstanding father to his children. Michael’s hobbies and interests included riding his motorcycle, John Wayne movies, Wild Bill Hickok history, cleaning around the house, rooting on his beloved Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, and spending time with family and friends. Michael was a member of Frank N. Nicol Lodge 1170 A.F. & A.M. and the Mohammed Shriners of Peoria. Services will be held at 10 am Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Remmert Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Online tributes may be left at www.RemmertFuneralHome.com
