
She was born July 8, 1937 in Peoria to Watt Verne and Dorothy M. (Thompkins) Blackard. She married Ronald E. Vaughn Dec. 25, 1990 in Simpson, IL.
Nancy left behind her husband, Ronald, and 11 children, 3 of which took care of her throughout her life, Deana (Adam) McCormick, Dianna and Stacy. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 8 who were extremely close to her, Thomas, Jonathon (Cait), Maria, Sabrina, Christian, Jesus “Jessie”, Mario and Abby; 3 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; brother, Richard (Yvonne) Blackard; 2 sisters, Betty Fox-Smith, Peggy Heathcoat; and brother-in-law, Omer Morris.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother; sister, Jackie; and her only son, Timothy.
Nancy worked as an LPN for over 30 years working at the Bartonville State Hospital and OSF St. Francis Medical Center before retiring.
She loved quilting with nearly 200 to her hand. She also loved reading, jewelry, shopping, helping others and protecting her family.
Cremation has been accorded. Memorial Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Bayview Baptist Church in Washington with Pastor Keith Thibo officiating. Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
