

He was born March 24, 1947 in Peoria, a son of Melvon and Betty Feehan Stoneburner. He married Vicky Sue Cox on November 23, 1974 in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Richard D. Stoneburner of Peoria; one daughter, Julie Stoneburner of East Peoria; three granddaughters, Amelia, Brooke, and Carlie all of East Peoria; two brothers, Dennis Stoneburner, and Kevin Stoneburner; and three sisters, Brenda Yaunk, Debra Warfield, and Diana Null.
He was preceded in death by his father, two grandmothers, and two grandfathers.
Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War 1966-1969.
He was a proud member of the Bartonville VFW Post # 3883 and the Limestone American Legion Post # 979.
He was a loving and protective husband, dad, and grandpa who will be greatly missed.
He retired from Illinois Central College as Chief of Public Safety in 2003. He also previously worked on the grounds crew at ICC. He worked for the Fon du Lac Park Police, and was on the auxiliary Fire and Police Department in East Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday May 1, 2010 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Scott Estes will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria.
