He was born at home in Havana, Mason County, Illinois on November 8, 1926, the son of James Robert and Mildred E. (Vance) McGuire. He married Beverly A. Kiltz on August 9, 1948 and later married Norma J. Tucker on February 5, 1979. The both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth Moul.
Bob is survived by four daughters, Deborah (Joe) Blahnik of East Peoria, Patty (John) Hansen of Danville, KY, Kathleen (Chuck) Mallet of Austin, TX and Molly Jo McGuire of Phoenix, AZ; four step-children, John (Jill) Tucker of Tonica,IL , James Tucker of Wiley, TX, Ann Tucker of Ottawa, IL and Mary (Tim) Fairchild of Victoria, TX; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Bob was a claims representative for 35 years with Country Companies, R.L. Lynch and Company and retired from Auto Insurance Company. He was a past president of Lions Club of Forrest, IL and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Forrest, IL. Bob was a WWII Navy Veteran and served with the 143 NCB in the Philippines. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 174, Color Guard, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9789 of Fairbury and Island X14 of the Navy Seabees Veterans of America of Kankakee, IL.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service with Military Rites will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Forrest Twp Cemetery in Forrest, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
