Roger Lee Peden

Roger L. Peden, 87, of Morton, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Carle Health Proctor Hospital. Born in Peoria, on July 28, 1938, he was the son of the late John S. and F. Evelyn (Beasley) Peden. He graduated from Limestone High School where he was on the basketball team. Following high school, proudly served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1964. On July 19, 1985, he married Shirley J. Kaufman in Las Vegas, NV. She preceded him in death on September 25, 2021.

Survivors include four step-children, Cathy Stayer, Rick Stayer, Rick Harvey, and Jeannie Harvey; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Harvey. Aside from his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Nancy Stayer; and step-son, Robert Harvey.

Roger was employed at Springfield Electrical Supply for many years and retired in 2002. He was an avid golfer and fly-rod fisherman, and enjoyed bowling on leagues. His kind and gentle soul will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

Visitation will take place on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Remmert Funeral Home, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Roberts Cemetery in Morton, with full military honors.
