EAST PEORIA- Velma F. Turner, age 88, of East Peoria passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Generations of Peoria.

She was born May 2, 1930 in Franklin County, Missouri to Arthur and Florence (Smith) Young. She married Clarence Lee Turner on August 25, 1968 in East Peoria at Church of God. He survives.

Also surviving are her children, Rev. Neil (Rev. Margie) Turner of Michigan, Dan (Nancy) Turner of Lincoln, IL, Susie (Jerry) Whitney of Pekin,IL , Vickie (Orland) Lockhart of Centralia, IL, Tim (Michelle) Cole of Kentucky and Kathie (Rod) Simpson of East Peoria, IL; many grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald Young, Patty Wissler, Bonnie, Douglas "Buddy" (Sheila) Young; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Joseph Cole; daughter, Valerie; sons Michael and Thomas and Alan Turner; and siblings, May, Ann, Georgia, Mary, Ernie, Charles, Betty Jean, David and Virginia.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Remmert Funeral Home. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. Rev. Neil Turner will officiate.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
