Violet Mae (Pendergrass) Martin-Meinders

Creve Coeur – Violet (Martin) Meinders 94, passed away at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2025, at her son’s home in Pekin.

Born on May 16, 1931, in Marionville, Missouri, born to Edna Pearl (Pryor) and Johnathan Pendergrass. She married Vesper E Martin Sr. on July 3, 1948, in Springfield Mo. He passed on November 19, 1994. She then later married Herman Meinders of Creve Coeur on October 4th, 2004. He also passed on October 14, 2005.

She is survived by her children Bertha Johnson of Creve Couer, Dave & Carolyn Eitenmiller of Pinellas Park, FL, Sam Martin of Goofy Ridge, Tom & Becky Martin of East Peoria, David Martin of Pekin, and Jeff & Debra Blanch of East Peoria. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 75 Great grandchildren, and 51 Great Great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her 6 brothers and 8 sisters, her 2 sons Bob Martin and Vesper E Martin Jr. and 2 daughters Carol Harness and Linda M Lay, her 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She was a homemaker and volunteered as a Librarian, worked for the Festival of Lights, was a Sunday school teacher at Bayview Baptist Church in Bayview Garden. Also, she enjoyed playing Bingo, Fishing, watching wrestling, dancing at the VFW, enjoyed going to the Paradise Casino, enjoyed spending time with her family and friends playing card games.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 3, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.

Burial will immediately following the services at the Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
