

East Peoria – Wayne Edward Johnson, 73, of East Peoria, IL passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 at 3:57 pm with his wife by his side. Wayne was born March 18, 1943 in Peoria, IL to Lewis and Ethel (Ingram) Johnson. He married Marjorie Martin on October 1, 1966 in Pekin, IL.
Surviving is his wife Marjorie Johnson of East Peoria, two sons Timothy (Melissa) Johnson of Peoria and Matthew (Heather) Johnson of Elgin, two grandchildren; Aiden and Alexander Johnson, his brother Ralph (Mary) Johnson of Kokomo, IN, and several nieces and nephews.
Wayne was a graduate of Pekin Community High School, class of 1961. He served in the United States Air Force from 1961 – 1965. He served in Turkey as a radar specialist and attained the rank of Airman First Class. Wayne started working at IBM as a customer engineer in 1966 and retired in 1996.
Wayne attended Groveland Missionary Church for many years. He enjoyed playing his steel guitar and dobro. Wayne was an avid collector of St. Louis Cardinal Baseball cards and American Flyer trains. He enjoyed being with his family and especially his grandsons. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services will be held at 10 am Friday, May 20, 2016 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 pm Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
