

Bill was born April 4, 1937 in Hanna City, IL to Charles H. and Jean (Madison) Workman. He married Phyllis “Joann” Van Houten on May 17, 1956 in Hanna City, IL.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Joann; three daughters, Kim (Bobby) Johnson, Traci (Rick) Jeremiah, and Kelly (Rick) Johnson; son-in-law, Bill Eaton; ten grandchildren, Bill Gleason, Patty (Bill) Cotton, Angie (Ryan) Hacker, Jeremy Gleason, Danielle (Ty) Hasty, Lindsey (Ryan) Samp, Jake (Heidi) Jeremiah, Jim Jeremiah, Kelsi (Tim) Wolfmeyer, and Trevor (Madison) Johnson; 15 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marty (Richard) Callear.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Lee Ann Eaton; and sister, Donna (Dick) Lomax.
Bill honorably served in the US Air Force from 1955-1964 achieving the rank of Staff Sargent. Bill shared a wonderful life with his family and friends. He never met a stranger and loved talking and joking with everyone he met. He was a member of American Legion Post #979, the Hanna City Sportsman’s Club, Goldwing Chapter Z, and his beloved East Peoria McDonald's Coffee Group that he participated in every morning. He enjoyed wintering in Texas for 18 years, and the past year in Florida with his beloved wife.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Remmert Funeral Home of East Peoria from 12-2PM with memorial services to follow at 2PM. Cremation rites will follow services. Memorials may be made to the Greater Peoria Honor Flight (which Bill was honored to participate in this past June).
