
Betty is survived by children Susan Kirby (Andy) of Chattanooga, TN; Cyndy Standish (Dean) of Roswell, GA, and Peter Daigle (Penny) of Suwanee, GA. She is survived by grandchildren Samuel Kirby, Charles “Chip” Kirby, Susanna Kirby, Trevor Standish, Maddie Daigle, and John “Jack” Daigle. She is also survived by half- sisters Barbara Reynolds of Flowery Branch, GA; Doni Mills of Peachtree City, GA; Mary Fuller of Cary, NC; Dorothy Sue Ward of Reidsville, NC, and half-brother Henry Ward of Rougemont, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by mother Mamie (Wilson) Phillips and father Bert Phillips; also by siblings Alberta Ewing, Wilson Phillips and Forrest Phillips. She is also preceded in death by half sisters Peggy Ward and Elizabeth (Libby) Cottongim.
Betty was born on July 6th, 1925 in Gastonia, NC. She graduated from Russell High School, East Point, in 1942. Soon after graduation, she began working for Rich's Department Stores, where she held the position as a fashion buyer for many years. Betty is still remembered as a tireless, energetic co-worker and mentor within her professional circle. Her children will always remember her as a loving mother who was always supportive of their goals and ambitions.
A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in East Point, on Thursday April 30th, 2015 at 11:00 am with a memorial service to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name may be made to a charity of choice.
