Just found an old wedding announcement from the Burlington Freepress going through my Mom’s photos. My Mom, R. Muriel Powers Curtin, was a cousin of Buddy’s. Her Dad & Buddy’s mom were brother & sister.  I don’t remember Dr. Byrnes but heard a lot about him & I was surprised at how much he looked like my grandfather, Bill Powers. My parents are gone now too. God bless.

It is now May, 2015, and only yesterday did I learn of Dr. Bill's passing.  What a guy!  The late Fred Sherwood and I were blessed to have met Bill while ushering at the Fox in the early 1980s. Soon thereafter, "Norah The Delightful"came into our lives. Fred and I were welcomed into the warm bosom of the Byrnes household, and we enjoyed many good times there.  No kinder man and woman can be found.  Dr. Bill was a huge part of our lives for over 20 years.  I still grin at his eccentricities, and marvel at his intelligence.  I have missed and will continue to miss this wonderful gentleman.  All my best to Norah, Sean, Greg, and Topher.

I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Bill's passing. We all looked forward to his visits to Vermont.  His sense of humor was priceless. Know that you and your family are in my thoughts.  He had a life well lived.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time. My own fondest memories took place out to Nanny & Grampie's camp out at Starr Farm Beach whereas I always looked up to Uncle Buddy as, at that time, the 'king of cool.' I remember some of his visits to Burlington and my mother always shared his Christmas (and any other) letters she received. Although little contact throughout my adult life, I looked forward to his dry and quick wit whenever he visited Burlington. As an example of his humor, we were all attending Church for some reason and he referred to the interior of the new Cathedral looking like a disco. I could barely contain myself in Church just as the way he had said it. So sad at his passing but fond memories while I was growing up.

Meg and I were so saddened to hear of Bill's passing. I will always remember how his wit and sense of humor would bring laughter into the room. Our thoughts go out to you, Sean, Greg and Topher during this difficult time.

I was so sorry to hear of Bill's death and send my love and sympathy to dear Norah and the boys. We go way back to 1954 when my late husband a d Bill met as Interns at St. Francis Hospital and became fast friends. The four of us have remained good friends and I will miss him. I worked with Dr. Bill at the Fox Theatre and enjoyed knowing him and looking forward to his great presence every weekend. A funny man, and so knowledgeable about everything, ESP. Theatre!  God Bless his family during this difficult time.

I spent 27 happy years in the presence of Dr. Byrne's at South Fulton OR.He never failed to bring a smile or a laugh.He was one in a million,with a heart of gold and the grandest personality.I dearly loved him and will always carry his memory in my heart.

In 1976 WB and Dr. T opened my innocent eyes to the world of Perioperative life. Only 19 and you helped me be the nurse I  am today. Many laughs and discussions of movies (Betamax) & ushering at the Fox together. Bing helping install all the ceiling fans and swimming in your pool, we laughed and laughed.  The day you retired and left your anesthesia machine sitting on the center of the front desk with a sign "I'm gone!" we cried. My heart was heavy then and heavy now. Your love for us and your infectious laugh made my time at South Fulton home. You and Nora threw the best 
retirement party and you opened your home to all of your OR family.  WB you are a great man! Bing and I  wish you peace and know you will be enjoying yourself.  Prayers are with you. Nora, knowing that ya loved each other deeply, this will be a difficult time, Bill is still by your side. All our love to the Bynes family.

Chris and I only got to spend a little time with Dr Bill since becoming part of Topher's family.  He was so pleasant to be around and his wit and humor is something I'll treasure forever.  A doctor, a soldier, a husband, and a father who will be surely missed by many.  Martin & Chris Quattlebaum, South Carolina.

ALL THE WHILE, DR. TURCOTTE LOOKING OVER MY SHOULDER SAYING, "BLONDIE (AS HE CALLED ME), I'LL HELP YOU WITH THAT." NEVER WOULD LET HIM. in 1996 when Bill insisted Sheryl have hand surgery at Emory by one of the best surgeons.  He was at the hospital for the surgery and made the nurses take care of Chuck.  He was not just a co-worker but a dear caring friend. Bill insisted only the best for everyone he met.

Norah,Topher, Gregory, Sean, Bill was a wonderful friend and mentor and my heart is truly broken.  My comfort comes with the knowledge that when I, too, go through the veil, I will see him and the hereafter will be a really fun place because we will all be together again.

Dr. Byrnes - You were awfully good to that skinny, long-haired kid that showed up for work in the OR at SFH back in 1973.  Many thanks especially for letting me borrow your tux so I could afford to go to my Senior Prom.  There was never a dull moment when you were around.
