I would visit the Mahoney family because I was a cousin. I would visit my grandparents, Frank and Mary Mahoney on Signal Mountain. I loved playing with Khaki my cousin, in town. It was always a fun time, and very welcoming. I remember seeing Anna's beautiful drawings fashion drawings, and how professionally well done, they were beautiful. I was interested in art at the time and I myself went on to go to Art School, so it was really great to see someone making money from their art.

Growing up I spent many a weekend at the Mahoney home. Mrs. Mahoney always made anyone feel special to be around her.What a Grand Lady. A Great Christian.  Jude Weidner

To the Mahoney family, 

Please accept my condolences on your behalf. Chris was my best friend at Sts. Peter and Paul elementary in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He invited me to his home for a sleepover. Inviting a black kid, like me, to your home was not the custom in Chattanooga during those years. Mrs Mahoney took me into her home and treated me like all of the other Mahoney kids. She went out of her way to insure that I was comfortable. 

This was my first visit to the home of a white family. Mrs Mahoney showed me that there were people who loved unconditionally, regardless of race, color or creed. I am forever in her debt. 

RIP Mrs. Mahoney.
