Annita Hicks

Born to the late Robert and Carrie McBryar, Annita was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Norman Hicks; her daughter, Deborah Ann Horton; stepdaughter, Pamela Ann Ryan; sister, Juanita McBryar; and her brothers, twin brother Andrew McBryar, L.A. McBryar, Homer McBryar, Roy McBryar, and Benny Ray McBryar.

Annita retired from Dixie Yarns after many years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of Riverside Baptist Church in Lookout Valley and found great joy in her faith, her family, and the relationships she cherished throughout her life. Above all else, Annita's greatest love was her family, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

She leaves behind her son, Jimmy Ray Horton of Chattanooga; stepdaughter, Kayla Jayn (Kyle) Askew of Ooltewah; grandchildren, Corey (April) Ryan, Matthew (Stephanie) Askew, Noah (Michelle) Ryan, Meghan Appleberry, Jordan (Jenna) Ryan, Morgan Askew, Joshua Ray Horton; several great grandchildren; sister, Elfrida (Gary) Rosenbaum of Harrison; brothers, Clyde McBryar and J.R. (Janet) McBryar, both of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Susan McBryar, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends who will miss her greatly.

A funeral service celebrating Annita's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Brandon and Rev. Garrett Reagan officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens–West with Corey Ryan, Noah Ryan, Jordan Ryan, Braxton Ryan, Caleb Ryan, Eli Ryan and Brennan Appleberry serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the funeral home.
