Betty Reed

Betty Reed, 83, passed into the loving arms of her heavenly Father on Thursday, October 2, 2014. She was a joy and inspiration through her life and made a positive difference in the many lives that she touched. She had a great faith and a caring spirit for people. She was instrumental in starting the Emmanuel Church of Christ (now Emmanuel Praise Temple) in Chattanooga and a faithful member who loved her church family. She drove a wheelchair bus for Orange Grove Center many years loving the work, especially the children. She was the Pastor of the Sherwood Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Sherwood, Tennessee for 28 years, traveling the miles with a great love for her church family—her children that she prayed for continuously. She was a wonderful, supportive, praying Mother who was always there for her children, and a wonderful Sister and Aunt. She has left a daughter Donna and son James (JR) Reed, a sister Ellie McEwen, a brother Don McEwen and sister-in-law Ann, loving nieces and a nephew, church family and friends who will never forget her or her testimony in this life.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Janice Inman and the Rev. Tim Inman officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Sunday and from 12:30 - 1:30 PM Monday at the funeral home.
