LT. Bill R. Shackleford

He was born on October 31, 1946 in Chattanooga, TN to the late Hugh Russell Shackleford and Martha Lynn Hale Shackleford. His brother, James “Jim” Shackleford preceded him in death.

Bill was a proud graduate of Kirkman Technical School in 1964. He was a retired Lieutenant for the Chattanooga Fire Department after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Chattanooga Firefighter Association Local #820, member of the Bible Study Fellowship, former member of Hickory Valley Christian Church and current member at Red Bank Baptist Church. He was involved in Tres Dias of Southeast Tennessee where he attended weekend #27. He was the former owner of Mountain City Mercantile. Bill also enjoyed playing Santa Claus for many years. He was a joy to all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his spouse, Ann Dickerson Shackleford; son, Keith Shackleford; daughter, Kara Shackleford; brother, John (Sherri) Shackleford; nephews, Kevin (Jill) Shackleford, Mark Shackleford, Justin (Meredith) Shackleford; nieces, Jennifer Shackleford Bowling, Jamie (Howie) Connell and several great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Lantern at Morning Pointe and to Teleia Woodruff, Christie Lawery with 2 Humble Hearts Home Care and Damon Stewart for all the love and care they have given to Bill.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 24, 2024 in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm in the chapel. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
