Gayle Rollins Hudson, 78 of Chattanooga died on May 25, 2018. She was a graduate of Central High School and attended the University of Chattanooga. She was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority after 36 years. She worked as a Budget Officer in the Division of Fossil and Hydro. She was a devoted member of the First Centenary United Methodist Church and the Morgan Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents Norman and Opal Rollins and a sister Mrs. June (Jesse) Tant.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years Bob Hudson, brothers Norman (Linda) Rollins, Jr. and Roger (Tricia) Rollins, stepsons Tim Hudson and Tony (Kathryn) Hudson and a stepdaughter Mrs. Tammy (Scott ) Crabtree.
Gayle was a very caring and thoughtful person who always thought of what she could do for others rather than herself. Her Mom suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. Gayle was with her almost every day during the years. She loved children especially her nieces and nephews who called her Granny Gayle and her four grandchildren who called her Gigi. Gayle was a wonderful cook and when her grandchildren were small, they loved to help her make the best Chicken and dumplings and chocolate cookies in the world. She was an avid sports fan who never missed the sports page in the local paper. She loved the Tennessee Vols. football team, Atlanta Braves and the UTC basketball teams. She was not a golfer but enjoyed walking golf courses during tournaments, especially, the Master's in Augusta, which she attended more than a dozen times.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at First Centenary United Methodist Church with Dr. David Harr officiating. Interment will follow the services at Lakewood Memory Gardens West. Family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday May 29, 2018 from 5pm until 8pm at the funeral home and from 12:00 noon until time of service Wednesday at the church.
