Carolyn Jeanette Petts went to meet her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the age of 91. In 1953, she graduated from Central High, where she was a member of the Honor Society. She worked for the Volunteer State Life Insurance Company for 24 years. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene her entire life. Jeanette led the children's church for over 50 years across four churches as her family moved with the US Air Force. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club of Smyrna, Tennessee, a Pink Lady at Smyrna Hospital, and a member of the Chattanooga Humane Society.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Petts, and her parents, Harry and Doris Mullis. She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Ellis Miller; grandchildren, Matthew C. (Christina) Miller and Rebecca C. Miller; great-grandchildren, Blake, Maria, Cameron, and Lucy Miller; cousin, Theresa (Maxie) Webb Howard; and dear friends, Barbara Garrett, Joan Jeffery, Inge Dearman, and Leland Lerch.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 5-7pm, and on Monday, October 19, 2026, from 10:30-11:15am at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN. A funeral Service will follow at 11:30am with Pastor Eric Johnson officiating. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
