Carolyn Kirby Trantham, 70 of East Ridge went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 23, 2011. She was born January 29, 1941 in Chattanooga, TN to the late William J. Kirby and Laura Carroll Kirby.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and gave of herself with all of her love and affection. She was co-owner of Tranthams Service Center and a member of Kingwood Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Central High School class of 1959.
Survivors include her husband of 49 ½ years, William (Al) Trantham; sons, David, Dewayne (Cheri), Greg (Dena), and Gary (Deborah); grandchildren, Andrea Fouts, Sandy (David) Fortenberry, Sammy, Patrick, Alexus, Catherine, and Carolyn; Great-grandchildren, Taylor and Nate; brother, John (Dian) Kirby; sisters, Linda (Jean) Sims, Charlotte (Gentry) Perry and Sarah (Norman) Corn; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Les Fauntleroy officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
