Charles loved baseball and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. In the early 1960’s he coached little league baseball in Red Bank and was one of the volunteers to help build what is today Fairbanks Field.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Dupont after over 30 years in Old Hickory, Tennessee and Chattanooga, Tennessee plants. After his retirement he worked security at Northgate Mall.
Charles was born in Summerville, GA July 2, 1931 to the late Floyd and Foye Kitchings. He was preceded in death also by a sister, Margaret Kitchings.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Kitchings; sons, Danny (Donna) Kitchings and Scott (Tracy) Smith, daughter, Renee Jolley (Tom) Thompson; grandsons Caleb (Heather) Kitchings, Scott Smith, Jackson Cresswell, Cole Jolley and Conor Thompson; great-grandchildren, Landon Kitchings and Audrey Kitchings.
