

Claibourne D. Henry, 91, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 18, 2011. A 1937 graduate of Marion County High School, he also attended McKenzie Business College, Chattanooga College of Law and special studies at the University of Chattanooga. He served in the Tennessee State Guard and was a veteran of W.W. II, serving in the U.S. Navy and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was also retired from TVA as a Division Personnel Officer with 40 years of service. He was a charter member of the National Management Association Personnel Management Club, listed in Marquis Who’s Who In The South for 1978-1979. He served as President, Officer of Professional Employer Organization and had also served as President of the Heritage Landing Home Owners Association, Teacher of the Prison Ministry and City Retirement Centers, Boy Scout Leader, Half Century Club and member and Moderator for the Hamilton County Baptist Association, Executive Board Member and Trustee and Mission Development Coordinator. He was a member of the Ridgedale Baptist Church for 62 years where he served as Deacon Emeritus. He was a member and teacher of the Joy Lydia Sunday School Class. He also served as Deacon Chairman, church training director, Treasurer, Bible Teacher, chairman of various committees including, Personnel, Pastor Search, Child Development, Decorations, Missions, Finance and Evangelism, Volunteer Missions in 12 states including, Alaska and four foreign countries, including Australia, the West Indies and South America. He also had book publications of poems “Leaves of Gold” and “Descendants of James Wiley Henry 1720-1990”. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Tittle Henry and three brothers, Sam Henry, Harold Henry and Leon Henry. Survivor includes his son, Sam Henry and wife Pam, Chattanooga; daughter, Ginger Moss and husband Tim of Chickamauga, GA; three grandchildren, Brent (Candice) Henry and Trevor and Troy Moss; great-grandson, Blake Norton; great-granddaughter, Eliza Henry; brother, Tom Henry and wife Pat of Florida; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the East Chapel with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Joy Lydia Sunday School Class at Ridgedale Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Building Fund-Ridgedale Baptist Church, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
