He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Marine Corps and a member of Second Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Minnie Patterson and two sisters, Helen Simmons and Lena Simmons.
Survivors include his son, Claude E. Patterson, Jr.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
There will be a private burial at Chattanooga National Cemetery with no visitation at the funeral home.
