She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Arbie Garner of Sherwood, TN.; five brothers and five sisters, and her late husband Kenneth E. Webster.
Connie was born in Sewanee, TN on November 3, 1932 into a large family and had numerous nieces and nephews. She spent her early years in Sherwood, TN until the family relocated to Chattanooga where she attended and graduated from Chattanooga High School. After graduation, she enrolled in Tennessee Wesleyan College where she earned a degree in secretarial science, and soon became employed by Combustion Engineering where she met her late husband.
While at Combustion Engineering, Connie had an outstanding career. She was honored in 1974 as Chattanooga Secretary of the Year. In 1978, she was promoted as executive assistant to the vice president of Combustion.
Connie was a bright, energetic person whose life revolved around her family and friends, her church, and travel. She enjoyed the many family reunions and events with friends, nieces and nephews from Memphis and Florida who called her "Ree". Connie never missed a family or friend life celebration regardless of the distance.
She was also a member of the Brainerd United Methodist Church where the music ministry was a vital part of Connie's life. She sang in the church choir for many years, and she particularly liked gospel music.
A Celebration of “Connie’s” Life will be held on Friday Sept 1, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 pm. She will be laid to rest with her husband in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
