To : Andy, Amy and Bob:
   I am so sorry to hear about your dads death.  I met with him twice in his home perhaps 4 and 6 years ago.  We continued to email each other since.  As you may recall I worked with your dad from '77-'80 in the Rhea Co. Cthse.  Those were great years.  I learned a lot from you dad and loved meeting you guys.  I have many great memories of my wonderful years in TN and many of your father.  Of course the best memory is of your dad marrying Ann and I.  Ann always loved those hand picked flowers Amy.....that was so sweet of you.  I shall always remember how well mannered you all were.  Dan left many indelible marks upon me, many life lessons learned.  I shall miss him greatly.

So sorry to hear about Dan passing he was a good friend. 

Dan Wade was an athlete, a soldier, and a great storyteller who loved his life and his family, and was always willing to help anyone who needed it.  I first met Dan when we were hired to call high school football games for WDSI-TV FOX 61  under Executive Producer and Director Don Miller.  The three of us really enjoyed that first season, and I still have recordings of the games.  On the night of our first game, I went to Dan’s apartment on Cameron Hill, where he greeted me with a huge grin and a firm handshake, which was difficult to do because he was in the middle of eating a bologna and cheese sandwich at that moment.  I am 6 feet 1 inch tall, but had to look up to talk to Dan, who was a mountain of a man with a sense of humor and a deep knowledge of football. 
That first game was a learning experience for me, but Dan was as easygoing as could be doing play-by-play with that booming voice of his.  I always learn something from everybody I work with in radio and TV, and what I took away from Dan was to relax and have fun at what you are doing.
After our work with FOX 61 was over, we remained good friends and kept in touch. I helped him move once when he was re-locating to my area of town, and he even had fun at that despite the furniture and the grunting and grinning we both endured. 
I would love to have an opportunity to sit down one more time with my buddy, Dan Wade, amid stories and laughter, and maybe broadcast a game or two, but I will have to settle for the hope that one day I will share the booth with him again, because that’s the way it oughta be.

I first met Dan when he was county Executive of Rhea County and owned a pizza restaurant in Dayton TN.
Although his time was limited, he always had time to visit with me.
After the restaurant caught fire, Dalton Roberts hired Dan to come to work at Hamilton County.
Dan and I attended numerous UT football games,  UTC basketball games, several deep sea fishing trips and countless lunches together.
Dan was instrumental in finding me a job with Hamilton County when I needed work.
I helped Dan move on several occasions.
When Dan was down, I helped him and when I was down, he helped me.
Dan was a good man and my friend and I will miss him.
