

He was born in Atlanta, GA, to John and Martha Webb. He attended Baylor School and was awarded a Morehead Scholarship to attend the University of North Carolina, where he studied History. He received a Master’s degree in Theological Studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston, Mass. He worked in the Employee Relations department of Union Carbide in Columbia, TN, and, later, served Duke University as an Employee & Labor Relations Specialist in Durham, NC. Dan spent the past twenty-two years at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, as the Executive Director of Human Resources. He was pursuing an additional Master’s degree in Secondary Education with the dream of teaching at Brainerd High School after he retired from UTC.
Dan was an enthusiastic gardener and a lover of ancient languages, such as Hebrew, Greek, Arabic, and Phoenician. He spent much of his time volunteering with multiple nonprofit organizations: Widow’s Harvest, Channels of Love, PEAK Academy in Kenya, a mentoring program at Walker State Prison, and many more. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, John G. Webb, Jr, and his brother, Richard Sweet Webb.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Holladay Webb; his mother, Martha Elizabeth Sweet Webb; three children, Ellie Webb (Tim) Wallis, Skye Webb, and Dan (Lillie) Webb, Jr, all of Chattanooga; step-children Andrew Michael Black and Christina Lee Black Davison (Scott) and their children, Sophie Grace and Chase River; his brothers, John G. Webb (Fain) and Tim Webb (Dede). Also loving nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 13, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church with a visitation at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or to a charity that Dan supported.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
