David Allen Morgan

David Allen Morgan, 72, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on August 29, 2026. Born December 12, 1953, David lived a life defined by steady courage, honest work, and the kind of presence that leaves a place better than it was found.

A graduate of Tyner High School, David carried forward the values that shaped him early on showing up, doing the job right, and meeting life head-on. Those who knew him best recognized a man who didn’t look for the spotlight, but earned respect through consistency, grit, and a willingness to take on what needed to be done.

Upon graduation, David followed his father’s footsteps and made a career in the elevator industry with Westinghouse and Dover Elevator Co. His work ethic was more than a habit; it was a point of pride. In time, David took a bold step, leaving the elevator service business to start his own company, Volunteer Service and Repair. For more than 20 years, he served his community with dependable skill and determination before retiring, leaving behind a legacy built on effort, integrity, and perseverance.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Sybil Morgan. Left behind to cherish David’s memory are his wife, Bobbye Moudy Morgan; his sisters, Tisa Houck (Skip) of Deland, FL., and Kay Hampton (Kent) of McDonald, TN.; many nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family members and incredible friends who loved him dearly and will continue to carry his stories forward.

To know David was to know his passions. He found joy in sport fishing, appreciated the art of Bonsai, and followed collegiate sports with special devotion, especially his beloved Tennessee Volunteers. These interests weren’t just pastimes; they were the rhythms of a life well-lived, full of enthusiasm and steady appreciation for the things that made each day richer.

A Celebration of David's Life will take place at Forest Hills Cemetery, 4016 Tennessee Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37410, on September 10, 2026, at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends at Chattanooga Funeral Home-East Chapel prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Hearth Hospice for the comfort and tenderness they provided during his final chapter. The family also thanks the team of doctors and nurses that cared for him with dignity and compassion during his year long journey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David’s memory can be made to either Hearth Hospice, the American Cancer Society, or to the charity of your choice.
