David will be sorely missed. We always kidded - I called him my “second dad” and he referred to me as his “adopted” daughter. I’m going to miss his dry sense of humor, interesting stories, long talks, and occasional dinners. He was so easy to talk with and enjoyed life. David was a man of high integrity and always looked for the positives in a world of darkness. I am so blessed to have known David and his second wife, and find comfort in knowing he is at peace now with the Lord. With deepest sympathy for the family.

I had the privilege of getting to know David Nelson through the Chattanooga Lion's Club, where he was an active member for over 51 years. He will be missed by all of us and even in the last couple of years when he was able to attend our gatherings he was vibrant and made contributions to the dialogues -- whether in planning our sponsorship of televising the 2018 School Board Debate in Hamilton County or encouraging other Lions to continue to work of eye screenings or working to help with the homeless problem in our community. His experience and perspectives were notable and marked.

My sympathies to his family, friends and those others that his life touched.
