Deborah Starr Martin, 67, passed away on November 6, 2026. Born in Chattanooga on October 14, 1959, she was the daughter of the late L.W. “Buddy” Boydston and Joyce Templeton. From her earliest days, Deborah carried herself with a steady honesty and a thoughtful, kind-hearted way of being that made people feel seen, heard, and valued.
A graduate of Lookout Valley High School, Deborah built a life defined by loyalty, patience, and quiet strength. She spent most of her career as an over-the-road truck driver; work that demands endurance, good judgment, and a generous spirit. Alongside her late husband, Donald, she drove as a tandem driver, meeting the miles together with the sort of dependability and wisdom that became her hallmark.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her children, April Chapman (Roger), Brandon Eslinger, and Jeana Scroggins (Dorsey); grandchildren, Jeremy Eslinger (Kaitlyn), Chance Shirley (Samantha), Aubree Eslinger, Kiara Eslinger, and Madison Hayes; several step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; her aunt, Diana Foster; her partner, Chris McBryar; and many dear friends. Beloved by those who knew her best, she gave her care freely; steady, generous, and true.
In the everyday moments, Deborah’s warmth shone brightly. She loved playing Rummy with her aunt and enjoyed playing Solitaire, finding simple joy and calm in the familiar rhythm of a well-played hand. Her presence; patient, wise, and loyal will be carried forward in the stories shared, the lessons remembered, and the love she so thoughtfully gave.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday November 11, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Deborah's Life will be held graveside at the Lakewood West Memory Gardens in Lookout Valley at 10:30 am on Thursday November 12, 2026. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Eslinger, Bozy Chapman, Chance Shirley, Robbie Smith, Andy Queen, and Curtis Raines.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for the care that was provided to her.
