Diane Faye Edgeman, 80, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on October 20, 2026, one day shy of her 81st birthday. Born October 21, 1945, and raised in Chattanooga, Diane spent her life proving that a strong work ethic and a good sense of humor can carry you through just about anything and that a “quick stop” at a thrift store is rarely quick.
Diane owned and operated her own cleaning company and served many area businesses, including Chattanooga Funeral Home, Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Chattanooga Memorial Park, and Advantage Funeral Home. She also cleaned for the Chattanooga Police Department. True to her steady, hard-working spirit, she kept going until the last year, when her health took a turn and she was no longer able to continue working. Even then, her devotion—to her responsibilities, to her family, and to doing things well—never wavered.
A creative soul with a practical streak, Diane loved crafting, gardening, and giving old furniture new life. She was a master thrifter, with an eye for possibility and the patience to turn “someone else’s castoff” into something worth keeping. She enjoyed trips to the Smoky Mountains, collected state coins, and happily disappeared into the pages of Amish books, proof that her curiosity and warmth showed up in the little things as much as the big ones.
Above all, Diane’s legacy is rooted in love and perseverance. She raised her children completely on her own as a single parent, meeting each day with compassion, grit, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
Diane was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard; her mother, Jessie Owens; 2 brothers, Joe and Donnie Owens; and sisters, Margie Haley, June Adkins, Sue Light, Jean Boss, and Betty Owens.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Tammy Williams (Mike), Shelly Williams (Chip), Stacy Huckabee (Dennis), and Heather Morris; her son, Mark Morris; and a sister, Joyce Hamm. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brent Williams, Jessica Jackson, Brian Williams, Zachery, Jacob, and Christian Petty, Brandon and Jonah Mathis, Brittany Estok, Chelsea Hennessee; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Tennessee Oncology, and the nurses and staff with CommonSpirit Memorial Hospital.
All services for Diane will be private per the family's request.
