Donald Glenn Daugherty, 74, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on September 24, 2026. Born October 10, 1951, Donald grew up in Chattanooga, TN, and carried that hometown pride with him throughout his life.
A graduate of the Tennessee School for the Deaf in Knoxville, TN, Donald built a life marked by steady purpose, warm connection, and a spirit that could lighten a room. He had a natural way of drawing people in—often with a well-timed bit of humor—and he will be remembered for the kindness he showed so freely to others.
Donald was part owner of Red Bank Shoe Shop, where he worked in sales, repair, and leather work. His hands knew the value of good craftsmanship, and his days reflected the quiet satisfaction of honest work done well.
Never married, Donald found joy in the company of family and friends, and he had a special gift with children—he loved kids, and they loved him right back. Those who knew him best will always remember his famous wave with an “AAAH,” a signature greeting that captured his friendly presence and the simple delight he took in seeing others.
Donald’s interests brought him happiness and kept his mind engaged: fishing, baseball, video games, and researching the bible were among the things he loved. He also served as an usher with Faith Community Wesleyan Church, offering his time in a way that reflected his caring nature and his steady devotion to community.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald F. Daugherty, his sister, Karen I. Daugherty, and his nephew, Jason M. Daugherty.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his mother, Dorothy L. Daugherty; brother, Larry S. Daugherty (Gail); nephew, Matthew S. Daugherty (Itzel); great niece, Evelyn Daugherty; great nephew, Dean Daugherty; and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Donald Glenn's Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Tuesday September 29, 2026, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jack Sherman officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening September 28, 2026, from 4- pm at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest following the service in the Lakewood Memory Gardens South in Rossville, Ga.
