Dorothy L. Miller

Mrs. Dorothy Helen Miller of Chattanooga, Tn. went to be the Lord peacefully at home on Aug. 22, 2015. She was 87 years old. Dorothy was born on Jan 16th, 1928 in Youngstown, OH. She graduated from South High School and attended Youngstown Secretarial School. Dorothy married Douglas L. Miller on November 27, 1947. From the age of 3 years old, she played the piano by ear, and studied piano and voice. She accompanied orchestras, was featured on radio programs, and ministered in many churches over the years. Dorothy was a resident of East Ridge TN for 54 years. She served the Lord in ministry with her husband, Rev. Douglas L. Miller. They served congregations in Sutersville, PA, and New Castle, PA.

Locally, they served at East Ridge Evangelical Methodist Church, Kimball First Baptist Church, Philadelphia Baptist Church, and as Associate Pastor at Brainerd Baptist Church until his death in 1991.

For 43 years, Dorothy served as organist and receptionist at Chattanooga Funeral Home. She considered this part of her life an extension of her ministry.

She is preceded by her husband of 45 years, Rev. Douglas L. Miller and her parents, Carl and Anna Lund

Survivors include her children, Dennis Lee (Terry) Miller of Loudon, TN, Craig Alan (Susan) Miller, Lisa Anne Miller (William) Buchanan and Brenda Lynn Miller (Jerry) Flowers, Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Justin (Diane) Miller, Christopher Miller and Bethany Miller all of Nashville, TN, Aaron (Hailey) Miller of Sumter, SC, Jesse Flowers and Polly (Brad) Flowers of Columbus, OH; brother, Jack (Irene) Lund, Houston, TX; Sister, Carol Lund (Don) Larson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Monday and from 10:30 – 11:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
