Earl Ray “Ronnie” Capehart, age 79, of Lafayette, Georgia, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010 in a local hospital. He was born May 5, 1930 to the late Clarence Ray Capehart & Gertrude Hardy Dake.
Mr. Capehart was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War where he was also a former prisoner of war for 18 months.
Being a vender and trader at the former 23rd Street Flea Market and the Trion Trade Day was among his favorite hobbies. He was of the Baptist Faith.
His brothers, Fred Eugene Capehart and James Carl Capehart and stepson, Billy Hull preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Kinsey Capehart; stepchildren, Bruce H. Kinsey; David Wayne Kinsey and James Thomas (Belinda) Kinsey all of Lafayette; Gloria (Eddie) Hammontree of Rossville; sister, Mary Faye Hasting of Flat Rock, Alabama; brother Dennis “Dent” (Joyce) Capehart of Georgetown; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with is nephew, Rev. Robert K. Schrader officiating. Full military honors will be provided.
The family will receive friends 12-2 p.m. Thursday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 South Moore Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
