Ed was born April 10, 1925, in Hartselle, Alabama. He graduated in 1943 from Morgan County High School in Hartselle and received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University in 1948. He was a member of Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. He worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority during college and until his retirement in 1987.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen (Lamon) Stephenson, his son Robert A. Stephenson (Lucy), daughter Phebe Stephenson Young (Robert), grandchildren Rachel Westman (Daniel), Christopher Stephenson (Michaela), Heather Mimms (Joshua), Sarah Lentz (Shawn) and Benjamin Stephenson and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 9, at 2:00 pm, at Spring City United Methodist Church in Spring City, Tennessee.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be directed to the Spring City United Methodist Church Organ Fund, P.O. Box 158, Spring City, TN 37381.
