

Bill retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority as a Photogrammetrist after 31 years of service. He was a graduate of the University of Chattanooga with a bachelor’s degree in geology. Bill served as Scout Master for Brainerd Troop #415, worked with the Chattanooga/Hamilton County Rescue Service and taught SCUBA at the YMCA. He started the Diving program at the Tennessee Aquarium where he served for 28 years. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar William Godsey, Sr. and Irene Trew Godsey and a sister, Virginia Cross.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Jean Godsey; daughter, Laura Sencabaugh; son, Edgar William “Billy” Godsey, III; 10 grandchildren, William and Megan Godsey; Joseph Godsey, Zachary and Kasie Jackson, Ben and Michelle Sencabaugh, Daniel Sencabaugh, Alex and Haley Godsey, Sam and Chelsey Sencabaugh, Katelyn and Jacob Nausley, Patti Godsey and Frances Jackson; four great-grandchildren, Tristan, Ronin and Willow Sencabaugh and Arden Nausley
Funeral services will be held at 12 PM Wednesday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Rowland officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
