Mrs. Elizabeth Collins

She was a graduate of the University of Chattanooga.

She retired from the Hamilton County School System after 23 years of teaching at the Anna B. Lacey Elementary School.

She was a long-time member of Ridgedale Baptist Church where she active in the Lydia Sunday School Class, Baptist Women, and a teacher in the Children’s Department.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Martin Collins, Sr.; son, George Martin Collins, Jr. and his wife, Garnett Collins; and son-in-law, Dr. Stanley H. Benson.

Survivors are daughter, Sara E. Collins Benson; grandson, Andrew C. Benson and wife, Marianne Benson; grandson, Raymond E. Benson; granddaughter, Sarah Jane Collins Bruner and husband Mark Bruner; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Bruner, Collin Bruner, Andrew Benson, and Hannah Benson.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the funeral home followed by a service celebrating the life of Elizabeth Collins at 11:30 with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
