Elizabeth Louise Jones

Elizabeth “Liz” Jones, 83, of East Ridge passed away peacefully at home on Saturday evening, March 31, 2018. She was the daughter of the late John H. and Anna Mae Pittman. Liz was a longtime resident of Chattanooga, after moving here from Scottsborough, Alabama. She was a loving and devoted wife and a longtime member of East Ridge Presbyterian Church. Liz retired from Erlanger Hospital where she was manager of patient accounts. For many years she enjoyed Square Dancing with Circle 8, gardening, aerobics at the BX and she especially loved her many animals, especially Chesnee, who misses her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her bothers James “Jim” and Carl Pittman.

Liz leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Sam E. Jones, sister-in-law Mildred Blair, nieces Paula (Bruce) Jolley and Ginger (Jimmy) Howard, nephew Michael (Heidi) Jones, many great nieces, nephews and close friends.

Sam would like to give special and heartfelt thanks to Paula and Bruce Jolly, Tiffanie Sewell, Kevin Moses, and to Hospice of Chattanooga and caregiver Pat Brock for the many hours of their time they gave to Liz.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday, April 5, 2018 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. J.R. Caines officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, or Hospice of Chattanooga, East Ridge Presbyterian Church or the organization of your choosing.
